Confirmed Wars and treaties · Verified 2026-10-31 · WWV-HS-TD-008

The treaty was signed in the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles. It required Germany to accept blame for the war, pay reparations and give up territory. Many historians argue its terms fed later tensions.

The signing took place five years to the day after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
