Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson

501 kg

Heaviest deadlift ever lifted (1,104 lb)

Confirmed Strength and endurance · Verified 2026-10-30 · WWV-PE-010

On 2 May 2020 Icelandic strongman Hafþór Björnsson deadlifted 501 kg (1,104 lb) at his gym in Iceland, edging past the 500 kg that Eddie Hall lifted in 2016. Guinness recognises it as the heaviest deadlift ever recorded.

This was a strongman-style lift. Powerlifting federations keep separate records under stricter equipment rules, and those numbers are lower.
